And they’re Off !!!…… at 0658 hours, Bill Michie and Captain Steve Slater hit the first balls on the golf course since the lockdown began. The excitement this morning was truly electric as our loyal and dedicated members made a return to Golf at GW, and the comments the smiles on the faces of our members made the moment that much sweeter. Our mantra is and shall remain “play safe and stay safe” in what we assure you to be the safest environment to play golf on the finest course in the North East. We have taken every possible precaution and made every provision to protect you at all times.
Members and visitors are expected to support the interim precautions and golf rules in place designed to protect everyone at all times. Please find below the current rules and protocols, Please take to read and understand these before booking, these are entirely non-negotiable and will be strictly enforced, yes this sounds strong and yes it’s not natural to golfers who enjoy the social aspects as much as the game, but together the club and all visitors must contribute to the safety of everyone during this difficult time.
From Saturday we will be taking bookings for pay and play golfers, with tee times available for non-members from Monday, the booking window will be 48 hours in advance for the time being and online availability will be live from Monday. Come and take advantage of the incredible golf course for £30 per round midweek and £35 at weekends; also consider our fantastic membership offering with full memberships available for only £690 or the equivalent of 20 rounds of golf.

Our state of the Art driving range is open from Friday 15th May and will be available seven days from 0900 to 1800 hrs. This will be available for a maximum of 1 hour and a minimum of 100 balls. Please park your cars in the bottom car park and report to the Orangery entrance adjacent to Carter and Fitch and Instructions and Guidance will be given. If the Range is full we would ask that you remain in your vehicle until such a time that a bay becomes available. We will be operating a one-way system to provide safe access and egress to and from the range.
It’s great to be back out there, it great to see friends from a safe distance. Keep it “safe as houses” at all times, enjoy the freedom and fresh air and above all please play safe and stay safe.
